Tow-Away VS Load Out

It is important to know the difference between tow-away and load out when moving trailers and other equipment. Understanding the difference in these types of moves will help you decide what option is best for you or your customer. The main difference between the two is time versus cost savings.

Tow-Away

Tow-Away moves are also known in the industry as Power-Only. Meaning that the carrier provides a semi-truck and picks up a trailer of any type from the pick-up location. Then delivering it directly to the delivery location, and this move is paid per mile. While it has a mileage fee and is more expensive than a load-out it is very fast as it is direct from pick-up to delivery.  Our tow-away moves are handled by our trusted power-only carriers so that your equipment is moved by the best in the industry.

While some specific types of trailers/equipment can not be loaded, tow-away may be the only option for equipment such as sanitized tankers, drop deck trailers, single-person yard tractors, open-top dump trailers, pup trailers, etc.

If the trailer you or your customer need to be moved is time sensitive the tow-away option would be the best choice, while if you have some leeway of when the trailer can be delivered a load out will provide more savings.

Load Out

A load out move is when a carrier picks up a trailer and puts a load in it. The carrier has 7 to 10 days to deliver the trailer. This price is based on the industry standard of what the manufacturers are charging at the current time. A load out move is the most cost-effective way to move a trailer, and beneficial to the transporter as they are able to put loads in the trailer on the way to delivery. Custom Trailer Moves is excellent at vetting our carriers and have built strong relationships with our carriers over the years. Maintaining integrity and communication is what we pride ourselves on.
